Biotopika
BIOTOPIKA investigates the transformation of the Schiavetti wetland, a protected biotope between Monfalcone and Staranzano, through an audiovisual language combining archival material, contemporary footage, environmental sound and testimonies collected around the site.
Developed as part of a broader research process on disappearing wetlands, the work brings together scientific observation, local memory and visual experimentation. Historical images and documents are placed in dialogue with present-day recordings of the landscape, revealing how changes in water availability, land use and surrounding infrastructures have progressively reshaped the ecosystem.
Rather than presenting the wetland only as a site of environmental loss, BIOTOPIKA treats it as a living archive: a landscape in which ecological processes, human interventions and collective memories continuously overlap.
The installation translates this complexity into a continuous audiovisual journey, using moving images and sound to make environmental transformation perceptible to a general audience.

I developed BIOTOPIKA as a science communication project connecting ecological research, local testimonies, archival materials and audiovisual experimentation. My role included the conception of the narrative framework, coordination of the research process and development of the installation as a public-facing format for communicating environmental change.
