RISORGIVA – Endangered Ecosystems

RISORGIVA — Ecosistemi in estinzione is an artscience and science communication project developed around the Schiavetti Biotope, a protected wetland between Monfalcone and Staranzano.

The project investigates the ecological transformations affecting the area, with particular attention to water availability, biodiversity and the progressive alteration of a fragile wetland ecosystem.

Scientific observation was combined with participatory workshops, audiovisual research, sound recording and public discussion. Students explored the biotope through environmental measurements, field recording and filmmaking, approaching the landscape simultaneously as an ecosystem, a research site and a space of collective memory.

The project also connected present-day observations with historical documentation and local testimonies, creating a layered account of how the wetland has changed over time and of the pressures that may shape its future.

RISORGIVA uses artistic and creative practices as tools for science communication, translating environmental processes into experiences that can be observed, heard, discussed and interpreted by different publics.
